The Lord Who Opens a Wilderness Road

My dear son,

The paths you already know are not the only ways I can work. I told Israel I would make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Open your heart toward the one who gives life even in dry places.

Enjoy past grace with gratitude without holding tightly to yesterday's methods. Consider what there is to learn and examine it in light of my will. On an unfamiliar path, you can keep asking for wisdom as you walk.

Tell me what you want to discover this morning. Find a good thing within your reach and begin with one step. Rely on my saving love, and make room for gratitude and praise in your day.

With all my love,
Your Father

Isaiah 43:18–21

WEB

18“Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old.

19Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

20The animals of the field, the jackals and the ostriches, shall honor me, because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

21the people which I formed for myself, that they might declare my praise.

A short reflection

God announces a new deliverance for Israel through images of a wilderness road and desert rivers, declaring that the people he formed will proclaim his praise.
