Love That Does Not Overlook Thirst
My dear son,
Even the need for a cup of water matters to me. I promised to hear the prayers of my thirsty people and never abandon them. My love would bring springs into the wilderness and make trees grow in dry ground.
Please do not hide your needs because you feel ashamed of them. The ordinary things that sustain life deserve your care. When someone near you tells you what they need, resist the temptation to dismiss it as something small.
Enjoy your water and food this morning with gratitude. If you have enough to share, give gladly. I am your Father, and I know what your life requires. Speak honestly with me today.
With all my love,
Your Father
Isaiah 41:17–20
WEB17The poor and needy seek water, and there is none. Their tongue fails for thirst. I, the LORD, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18I will open rivers on the bare heights, and springs in the middle of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
19I will put cedar, acacia, myrtle, and oil trees in the wilderness. I will set cypress trees, pine, and box trees together in the desert;
20that they may see, know, consider, and understand together, that the LORD’s hand has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.
A short reflection
God promises not to abandon Israel's poor and thirsty, but to provide water and trees in the wilderness so people will recognize their Creator's work.
