Already Called My Child
My dear son,
Receive again today the love that calls you my child. You do not yet know everything you will become, but being my child now is already precious. This love does not depend on winning everyone's understanding of who you are.
Hold the hope of seeing Christ and becoming like him. That hope gives care and purpose to today. Ask me for the way to live with truthful words and a clean heart as you wait.
I am glad to call you my child this morning. Entrust the future you cannot see to me. Enjoy today's love fully. I want to accompany your growth in Jesus' likeness with patient love, without hurried measurements.
With all my love,
Your Father
1 John 3:1–3
WEB1See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him.
2Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.
3Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
A short reflection
First John teaches that God's love already makes believers his children and that those hoping to become like Christ purify themselves.
