Sharing the Joy of Life
My dear son,
I want to share joy with you. Those who saw, heard, and encountered Jesus told others the news of that life. They wanted others to enter the fellowship they enjoyed with me and my Son. Receive that shared gladness too.
Faith need not be knowledge stored up alone. Tell one another about the love you discover in Scripture, and listen to each other's thoughts. As you come to know me together, the joy of relationship can grow.
If you have something to be thankful for today, share it gently. Hear each other's words without demanding matching feelings. I want you to enjoy abundant gladness within fellowship that is honest and personal.
With all my love,
Your Father
1 John 1:1–4
WEB1That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life
2(and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us);
3that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.
A short reflection
The witnesses in 1 John proclaim the Word of life they have seen, heard, and touched so readers may share fellowship with the Father and Son and experience joy.
