Gifts in Your Work and Words

My dear son,

I hope your hands and words help people today. Work honestly to provide what is needed, and share with your neighbor when you have something to give. Faithful labor can carry a generous purpose as well as meeting everyday responsibilities.

Before speaking, consider whether your words meet the other person's present need. Choose an appropriate moment for words that build them up. A sincere encouragement can become a valuable gift when offered with attention.

Begin the work entrusted to you faithfully this morning. When you notice someone else's effort, thank them specifically. I delight in seeing your honest work and thoughtful words become ways to express love. Both can make a real difference.

With all my love,
Your Father

Ephesians 4:28–29

WEB

28Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.

29Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.

A short reflection

Paul urges people to abandon theft, work honestly so they can share with those in need, and speak words that build others up when needed.
