Built Together as Family

My dear son,

You have not come to me as a distant guest who must watch anxiously from the edges. Those who belong together in Christ are my family. I want you to join comfortably rather than remain outside searching for a place to belong.

As a building takes shape around its cornerstone, grow connected around Jesus. Honor each person's place rather than making one person the whole focus. You are precious to me as you grow together into a dwelling for the Spirit.

If someone unfamiliar enters your gathering today, greet them first. Share the family warmth you enjoy. Sit together, hear their story, and make this a day of welcoming one another gladly.

With all my love,
Your Father

19So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God,

20being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;

21in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;

22in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

A short reflection

Paul describes Gentile believers as members of God's family, joined together with Christ as the cornerstone into a dwelling for God through the Spirit.
