Keep Courage Close to the Word
My dear son,
If something calls for courage today, keep my words near and take a step. What I asked of Joshua joined boldness with faithful obedience. I value the heart that asks what is right as much as the willingness to act.
Read and consider carefully instead of deciding on hurried confidence alone. Ask me for the strength to practice what you learn. Take time to discover what fits my will, beyond which voice happens to be loudest.
Carry one passage from this morning into a choice today. Be honest where honesty is needed and tender where someone needs care. Walk with me in a sincere response, without trying to hurry the outcome.
With all my love,
Your Father
Joshua 1:7–8
WEB7Only be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
8This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
A short reflection
God commands Joshua to follow Moses' law without deviation, meditate on it day and night, and faithfully do what it says.
