Look toward Rest You Can Share
My dear son,
If you have a place to rest comfortably, enjoy it with gratitude. Also notice neighbors who still need help. Those already settled east of the Jordan were called to support their fellow Israelites until they too had a place of rest.
Do not forget the needs of those who journeyed with you once your own portion is secure. Consider your circumstances and strength, and look for help you can offer. You need not do everything, but there may be work to share.
If you have room today, ask someone nearby what they need. Think about a place where you can rest and rejoice together. I delight when your security becomes generous care.
With all my love,
Your Father
Joshua 1:14–15
WEB14Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall live in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall pass over before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valor, and shall help them
15until the LORD has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they have also possessed the land which the LORD your God gives them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.’”
A short reflection
Joshua asks the warriors of the tribes settled east of the Jordan to help their fellow Israelites until they also receive the land and rest God gives.
