Remember Grace in What You Enjoy
My dear son,
Fully enjoy the good things available to you today. Some of them will be things you did not make yourself. Like trees already planted and wells already dug, there are gifts you receive through the labor of people before you.
While enjoying plenty, remember the love that has led you. I wanted Israel, living in a good land, to remember the one who rescued them. Let what you have received remain a gift rather than something taken for granted.
Tell me one thing you appreciate this morning. Thank the people who helped, care for what you have, and share. May enjoyment and gratitude remain together throughout your day.
With all my love,
Your Father
Deuteronomy 6:10–12
WEB10It shall be, when the LORD your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities which you didn’t build,
11and houses full of all good things which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;
12then beware lest you forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
A short reflection
Moses warns Israel not to forget the God who rescued them from slavery in Egypt when they enjoy prosperity they did not create in the promised land.
