Different Gifts, Shared Gladness

My dear son,

Do not keep wishing to exchange what you can do for someone else's talent. Teaching, helping, giving, and leading each have value. Use the gift I have given you gladly in the place where you are. It has a contribution to make.

Notice both your responsibility and the heart you bring to it. Give sincerely, lead diligently, and care for people cheerfully. I treasure the willingness within your work as well as the work itself.

Find something you can help with today and offer your care. You may join humbly even where you are still learning. Welcome the gifts others bring, and enjoy the shared gladness of serving together.

With all my love,
Your Father

6having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us: if prophecy, let’s prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;

7or service, let’s give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching;

8or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

A short reflection

Paul describes different gifts given by grace and urges believers to exercise teaching, service, encouragement, generosity, leadership, and mercy with fitting care.
