Members Who Belong to One Another

My dear son,

You do not have to excel at every role. As a body has parts with different functions, you live together with different places and responsibilities. I want those differences to become a source of joy in helping one another.

Do not think too highly of yourself or too little of someone else's work. Know honestly what you can do, and ask for help where needed. Both giving and receiving can belong in your life without diminishing your place.

Notice specifically how someone contributes today, and faithfully do your own part. I delight in seeing you stand beside each other as people who need one another and have something worthwhile to give.

With all my love,
Your Father

3For I say through the grace that was given me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.

4For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function,

5so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another,

A short reflection

Paul warns against inflated self-assessment and describes believers as members of one body, with distinct functions and belonging to one another.
