Walk with Me in Justice and Mercy

My dear son,

You do not need to calculate how great an offering will please me. I want to walk with you. Act justly, love mercy, and live humbly beside me. The path I ask of you runs through your everyday life.

Apply the same standard to your neighbor that you use when the outcome benefits you. When you encounter a need, offer the kindness you can. Love can become unmistakably clear in an ordinary choice.

Tell me your plans this morning, and ask what is right. It is all right if you do not yet know. I will teach you as we walk. I delight in your company as you treasure justice and mercy.

With all my love,
Your Father

Micah 6:6–8

WEB

6How shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?

7Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams? With tens of thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my disobedience? The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

A short reflection

Micah answers questions about extravagant offerings by teaching that God requires justice, love of mercy, and humble walking with him.
