Let Love Hold Your Day Together
My dear son,
As you choose your clothes this morning, choose how you will meet people too. Put on kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. You are my beloved child. Receive that tenderness freely and let some of it reach your neighbors.
If something uncomfortable happens between you and another person, do not immediately grasp for hateful words. Hear each other's circumstances and learn forgiveness. Rely on the love with which I have forgiven you, and ask for patience when you need it.
Above everything, add love. Like a belt holding clothing together, let love hold your words and actions in harmony. I would be glad for someone beside you to feel its warmth today.
With all my love,
Your Father
Colossians 3:12–14
WEB12Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;
13bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.
14Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
A short reflection
Paul urges God's beloved people to clothe themselves in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, forgive one another, and bind everything together with love.
