Open the Word Honestly

My dear son,

I gladly receive your desire to read my words closely. Instead of searching only for sentences that support your own argument, take time to hear what I am saying. This is the heart of a Father who wants an honest conversation.

You may discover a meaning you did not expect as you read the surrounding story. Ask again, learn, and allow your thinking to change. I value the honesty that refuses to twist Scripture to persuade someone.

If you share Scripture today, carefully distinguish your thoughts from what is written. You can explore what you do not know together. Depend on my mercy and let truth come into clear view.

With all my love,
Your Father

2 Corinthians 4:1–2

WEB

1Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint.

2But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

A short reflection

Paul says that, having received ministry through God's mercy, he does not lose heart or use deception and distortion but openly sets forth the truth.
