Different Names, One Shared Prayer
My dear son,
I hope you can enjoy having people with whom to pray. The first disciples brought their different names and lives into one room and prayed with one purpose. They did not spend the time of waiting entirely alone.
Share your joys and requests with someone trustworthy. Hearing another person's prayer can deepen your care for them. I treasure the time when you call my name together and give each other's needs a place in your hearts.
If gathering is difficult today, you can still pray for one person by name. Ask me for the good they need. As you make room for each other, may your days become more tenderly connected.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 1:12–14
WEB12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.
13When they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying, that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
14All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
A short reflection
After returning to Jerusalem, the apostles devote themselves to united prayer with the women, Jesus' mother, and his brothers.
