Love That Bears Lasting Fruit
My dear son,
As you consider what you want to accomplish today, think also of love that will last. Jesus appointed his disciples to bear fruit and commanded them to love one another. I hope that kind of fruit grows in your life too.
Time spent hearing someone fully or offering needed help is not wasted. You can care deeply for a relationship even when the results are not immediately visible. Ask me in Jesus' name for the wisdom to love.
This morning, consider whom you can care for. Tell someone you appreciate them, or faithfully keep a promise. Let us fill your day with kindness that will remain after the day itself has passed.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 15:16–17
WEB16You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
17“I command these things to you, that you may love one another.
A short reflection
Jesus connects his choosing and appointing the disciples with lasting fruit and prayer in his name, and commands them to love one another.
