Love Shown with a Towel

My dear son,

Value the willingness to bend down for someone you love. Jesus personally washed his disciples' feet. He showed love by putting his hands in the water, making humble service something his friends could see and receive.

Do not overlook a needed task while debating who is more important. Cleaning a shared space or easing someone else's workload can carry love. I delight in the care behind such ordinary actions.

Where help is needed today, contribute what you can. When someone serves you, receive it gratefully. May the tenderness of washing one another's feet continue in your ordinary life. There is dignity in both offering care and accepting it.

With all my love,
Your Father

John 13:12–15

WEB

12So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?

13You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.

14If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

15For I have given you an example, that you should also do as I have done to you.

A short reflection

After washing the disciples' feet, Jesus explains that he, their Lord and Teacher, has given them an example of serving one another.
