A Gentle Invitation, Quietly Spoken
My dear son,
You do not always need to expect a loud voice when I call you. Martha quietly told Mary that Jesus had come and was asking for her. A tender sentence was enough to open the way to draw near.
Come sit with me for a while today. You need not explain everything at once. I want to hear your heart. You can stay on days when prayer is brief, and take your time when there is much to ask.
When you check on someone else, allow them time to answer. If you would like to read Scripture or pray together, ask gently. I delight in relationships where people care for one another without rushing.
With all my love,
Your Father

WEB28When she had said this, she went away and called Mary, her sister, secretly, saying, “The Teacher is here and is calling you.”
29When she heard this, she arose quickly and went to him.
A short reflection
