Look Up at the Fields
My dear son,
As you consider today's tasks, tell me what you want to live for. Jesus described doing my will as his food. I hope the work love places before you can become a source of gladness in your day too.
Jesus asked his disciples to look up at fields already ripe for harvest. He showed them work in which those who sow and those who reap could rejoice together. You need not postpone every good thing to some distant future.
Listen to someone close by today, and offer the care you can. Enjoy a chance to read Scripture together if it arises. I want you to recognize my life-giving work and gladly share in it.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 4:34–36
WEB34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
35Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
36He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
A short reflection
Jesus calls doing the Father's will his food and tells the disciples to see the fields ready for a harvest of eternal life.
