Jesus Rested beside the Well

My dear son,

After a long journey, Jesus grew tired and sat beside a well. He asked a woman arriving to draw water for a drink. I want you to notice and care for your body's needs too. You are allowed to sit and rest.

Even drinking a glass of water can be a meaningful act of tending life. Ask for help when you need it. Expressing and receiving help with an ordinary need can also open a conversation between people.

Begin this morning by making room for both work and rest. Receive your food and water with gratitude. Share with me an ordinary day in which you treat your body kindly.

With all my love,
Your Father

5So he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”

A short reflection

Tired from his journey, Jesus sits at Jacob's well near Sychar in Samaria and asks a woman drawing water for a drink.
