The Gift of Being God's Child
My dear son,
Do not feel that calling me Father is beyond your reach. I give those who welcome and believe in Jesus the grace of becoming my children. That beginning is not determined by their family background or the size of their accomplishments.
You do not need to envy another person's advantages or embellish your own story to receive my love. Enjoy with gratitude the place grace has given you as my child. I am glad when you come close.
Will you call me Father and speak freely this morning? As you meet others, look beyond their circumstances too. Let the love you have received become a heart that recognizes their worth.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 1:12–13
WEB12But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:
13who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
A short reflection
John says that those who receive and believe in Jesus become children born of God, rather than through human ancestry or will.
