A Place Open to Children
My dear son,
You do not have to display grown-up strength before coming to me. When the disciples tried to turn children away, Jesus called the children close. Welcoming even the smallest child reflects the heart I have toward you.
Tell me when you need help, and receive love freely. You do not have to clench your hands around proof that you can manage alone. Receive my kingdom with the gladness of a child accepting a gift.
Call me Father and come near. Let yourself receive my love as a child rests in welcoming arms. You need not explain how capable you are before we can spend time together. I am glad to see you this morning.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 18:15–17
WEB15They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
17Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”
A short reflection
Jesus welcomes the children his disciples tried to stop, teaching that God's kingdom belongs to such as these and must be received like a child.
