The Kingdom in Your Midst

My dear son,

Do not think of my kingdom only as something far away. When people asked when it would come, Jesus told them it was among them. My purposes were becoming visible in the words and actions of the one standing before them.

Do not become so busy looking for special signs that you miss what is being said close at hand. Watch how Jesus meets people and gives life. Receiving my rule matters in the place where you live now.

Consider whom you need to treat honestly today and where you can offer kindness. Ask my will and walk in it. I want your daily life and my love to be close together this morning.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 17:20–21

WEB

20Being asked by the Pharisees when God’s Kingdom would come, he answered them, “God’s Kingdom doesn’t come with observation;

21neither will they say, ‘Look, here!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ for behold, God’s Kingdom is within you.”

A short reflection

Asked by the Pharisees when God's kingdom will come, Jesus says it cannot be identified by observable signs and is already in their midst.
