An Answer as Small as a Mustard Seed
My dear son,
The apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith. He pointed to a tiny mustard seed and described the astonishing sight of a mulberry tree planted in the sea. Tell me plainly about your own desire to trust me.
Do not keep measuring whether your faith is larger or smaller than someone else's. Begin with an honest willingness to lean on me. Instead of showing how much you know, trust one thing I have said enough to live it.
If you see something good to do this morning, take even a small step. Perhaps offer an apology or share something needed. Entrust your steps to me. I want faith to grow within your actual life.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 17:5–6
WEB5The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6The Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you would tell this sycamore tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
A short reflection
When the apostles ask for more faith, Jesus speaks of mustard-seed faith and a mulberry tree planted in the sea to illustrate faith's power.
