Take a Moment to Watch the Ravens

My dear son,

If you see a bird this morning, watch it for a moment. I feed ravens that have neither storeroom nor barn. You are far more precious than those birds. Before the question of food or clothing comes the value of your life itself.

I do not dismiss the work you do to provide what is needed. I simply do not want you to measure yourself by your possessions. Tell me your needs, and enjoy the life you have been given today.

Taste your meal slowly and share your gratitude. If you have something for a neighbor, give it gladly. I am your Father, and I know your needs. Keep speaking with me today.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 12:22–24

WEB

22He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

23Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

24Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!

A short reflection

Jesus tells the disciples not to worry about food or clothing, pointing to God's feeding of ravens and the greater value of their lives and bodies.
