Care That Remembers Every Sparrow
My dear son,
I do not forget even one small sparrow. How much more do you matter to me? Jesus reassured his disciples that even the hairs of their heads were known. You are my precious child, known with that same attentive care.
Do not let other people's judgments determine your whole worth. Consider what is right before me, beyond whose approval you might win. You can open your heart honestly to the Father who knows your life.
Treat yourself with dignity today, and honor your neighbors too. Set out remembering my care for small living things. I want you to rely on me instead of being pulled along entirely by other people's opinions.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 12:4–7
WEB4“I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
6“Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins ? Not one of them is forgotten by God.
7But the very hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
A short reflection
Jesus urges reverence for God rather than fear of persecutors and reassures his disciples with God's care for sparrows and knowledge of every hair.
