Eyes Open to the Light
My dear son,
When you open your eyes this morning, notice what you turn toward. As daylight enters through a clear window, I want your heart to have room to receive what is good. Jesus described the eye as the body's lamp.
If you always view people through familiar assumptions, you may miss who they really are. Let my words shine on your thinking, and listen afresh. Asking about what you do not know can broaden and brighten your understanding.
Enjoy what is beautiful today, and patiently check what needs checking. Notice someone's quiet effort. Begin this day with me, welcoming truthful light into the deep places of your heart.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 11:33–36
WEB33“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.
34The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.
35Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.
36If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”
A short reflection
Using images of a lamp and the eye, Jesus calls people to examine their inner light and to receive the light fully.
