Let Your First Greeting Offer Peace
My dear son,
When you meet someone today, begin by wishing them peace. Jesus told the disciples he sent out to bless the homes they entered. Before evaluating the person who welcomes you, let your heart desire good for them.
Receive small kindnesses gratefully too. Staying faithfully with the person who has welcomed you matters more than moving from place to place in search of better things. Receiving can also be a way of sharing love.
Put warmth into your greeting this morning. Fully enjoy the gift of a meal or a place to stay. I want you to know both the joy of giving and the gratitude of receiving.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 10:5–7
WEB5Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’
6If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
7Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house.
A short reflection
Jesus instructs his messengers to offer peace when entering a house, remain with their hosts, and accept the food provided.
