The Joy of Being Known

My dear son,

You do not have to accomplish something extraordinary to have reason for joy today. Jesus directed the disciples' delight beyond remarkable power to their names being written in heaven. First enjoy the gladness of belonging to me.

I welcome the heart you open to me more than a display of everything you know. Receive grace as gladly as a child receives a gift. Your day does not need to be filled with other people's admiration.

This morning you may call me Father. Let that closeness bring you joy. On productive days and quiet days alike, you are my child. I delight in the time we share together.

With all my love,
Your Father

20Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

21In that same hour, Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”

A short reflection

Jesus tells the disciples to rejoice that their names are written in heaven and thanks the Father for revealing his truth to little children.
