Soil That Holds the Word
My dear son,
A seed needs time to grow in the ground. After reading my words today, you do not have to produce an immediate display of change. I value the care you take in listening and holding what you hear in your heart.
Worries and desires can crowd a tender shoot when they fill every corner. Give your heart room to breathe. Talk with me this morning about what you truly want to hold on to over time.
Return to what you have heard as you go about your day. Keep it near without rushing. Like seed rooted in good soil, may my words bear fruit through your patient, enduring attention.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 8:14–15
WEB14What fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life; and they bring no fruit to maturity.
15Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.
A short reflection
Explaining the sower's parable, Jesus says that worries, wealth, and pleasures prevent fruitfulness, while those who hear, retain, and persevere in the word bear fruit.
