A Deep Foundation for Your Day

My dear son,

A sturdy house begins with digging deep where no one will see. There are moments like that in your day too. Speaking honestly and keeping a promise matter, even when no one notices or gives you credit.

I want you to live what you hear from me, not merely keep it as a pleasant thought. You do not have to build something impressive all at once. Each small choice can put what you have learned into practice.

Care for one promise you can keep today. Connect my words to your life as a builder sets stones on solid rock. I treasure the faithful work beneath the surface of your life.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 6:47–49

WEB

47Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words and does them, I will show you who he is like.

48He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock.

49But he who hears and doesn’t do, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”

A short reflection

Jesus compares those who hear and obey him to a builder who lays a foundation on rock, and those who do not obey to a builder without a foundation.
