Good Fruit Growing Within

My dear son,

This morning, let us consider what you are welcoming into your heart. Just as a good tree bears good fruit, thoughts that remain within you gradually appear in your words and actions. What you nurture there matters.

Enjoy the things that invite gratitude, and listen to what is true. You do not have to keep feeding on talk that demeans people. I want your heart, as well as your speech, to have room to breathe.

Instead of forcing yourself to invent kind words, spend time with what is good. Read my words and notice your neighbors' kindness. These small moments can bear warm, generous fruit in the things you say.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 6:43–45

WEB

43“For there is no good tree that produces rotten fruit, nor again a rotten tree that produces good fruit.

44For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people don’t gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

45The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

A short reflection

Jesus teaches that trees are known by their fruit and that people's words reveal the good or evil stored in their hearts.
