The Joy of Sharing a Table
My dear son,
I hope there will be pleasure in meeting people as we share this day. After Levi began following Jesus, he welcomed many people to a feast at his home. Make room on your path of faith for conversation, laughter, and companionship.
Do not assume you know a whole person from a name, a profession, or someone else's opinion. Sitting across a table and listening can reveal someone you have not yet understood. A warm welcome is a precious thing.
If you share a meal today, make a comfortable place for the other person. It need not be elaborate. I want your life with me to include kind greetings and the simple joy of laughing together.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 5:27–29
WEB27After these things he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me!”
28He left everything, and rose up and followed him.
29Levi made a great feast for him in his house. There was a great crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.
A short reflection
Jesus calls the tax collector Levi, who follows him and hosts a feast where Jesus and many other guests share his table.
