A Willingness to Sow

My dear son,

If you wait for the wind to become perfectly still, you may miss the time to plant. Begin the small task entrusted to you today. You do not have to understand every condition before your hands can do useful work.

You cannot fully explain the wind's course or the growth of a tiny life. Even where you cannot comprehend all my work, you can keep learning, tending what is yours, and living with care.

Make the preparations you can, and plant a handful of seed. You do not need to control its growing season. This morning, do what lies within your reach with love, and entrust what lies beyond it to me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Ecclesiastes 11:4–5

WEB

4He who observes the wind won’t sow; and he who regards the clouds won’t reap.

5As you don’t know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don’t know the work of God who does all.

A short reflection

Ecclesiastes warns that waiting for perfect weather prevents sowing and harvesting, while reminding readers that they cannot fully understand God's creative work.
