Remembering the Wide Sea
My dear son,
I want to begin today as though we were looking together over the wide sea. Countless living creatures make their home there, ships move across the water, and even the great creatures I made play in its depths.
The world I created is wider and more varied than what you see directly before you. Even a small creature holds wisdom worth discovering. Live as someone who learns its beauty and enjoys it gladly.
Between today's tasks, lift your eyes and look around. Learn about a creature that interests you, and enjoy the movements of nature. Your day of working, resting, and living within this wide world is precious to me.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 104:24–26
WEB24LORD, how many are your works! In wisdom, you have made them all. The earth is full of your riches.
25There is the sea, great and wide, in which are innumerable living things, both small and large animals.
26There the ships go, and leviathan, whom you formed to play there.
A short reflection
The psalmist praises the world made through God's wisdom, especially the sea filled with creatures, ships, and Leviathan, whom God made to play there.
