A Wonderfully Made Life

My dear son,

I knew you before you were born. Consider the mystery of life as your body was carefully woven in the womb. The person you are today is a precious gift, worthy of care in every part.

Do not measure your worth by another person's appearance or abilities. Even the smallest part of your body matters to me. Let ordinary acts of eating, moving, and resting carry a kind regard for yourself.

When you look in the mirror or get ready today, treat yourself gently. Attend to the care you need, and value other people's lives as well. As the Father who made you, I treasure the living person you are.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 139:13–16

WEB

13For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

15My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

16Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.

A short reflection

The psalmist thanks God for a wonderfully made life, reflecting on being woven in the womb and known by God even before his body was fully formed.
