A Voice Asking for Mercy
My dear son,
Use gentle care with words that may remain in someone's heart for a long time. Laughter gained by putting a person down does not please me. I take seriously the heart brought to me by someone facing contempt and mockery.
If those words come your way, you do not need to hide the pain. Ask me for mercy and seek help from someone trustworthy. Another person's careless treatment cannot make you less precious.
If your heart is peaceful today, enjoy that peace gratefully and notice your neighbors. A kind word can give someone a place to rest. I want to share a day with you in which you guard one another's dignity.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 123:3–4
WEB3Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt.
4Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.
A short reflection
A community worn down by contempt and ridicule honestly brings its distress to God and repeatedly asks for mercy.
