Steps Established by the Word

My dear son,

I want to set your steps firmly upon my word. Tell me about your desire to discern what is right. I want you to choose goodness gladly and live with freedom from the pull of wrongdoing.

If someone's oppression is holding you down, you can ask for help. You need not endure alone while your dignity is being worn away. Seek my grace and look for a way forward with trustworthy people.

Turn your heart toward my face with ease this morning. I want to greet you like a Father whose face brightens at the sight of his child. I am beside you as you listen and take an honest step.

With all my love,
Your Father

WEB

132Turn to me, and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.

133Establish my footsteps in your word. Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me.

134Redeem me from the oppression of man, so I will observe your precepts.

135Make your face shine on your servant. Teach me your statutes.

A short reflection

The petitioner asks for mercy, steps established by God's word, and deliverance from wrongdoing and human oppression so he can follow God's statutes.
