Teaching as Sweet as Honey

My dear son,

Receive my teaching with the pleasure of tasting sweet honey slowly. My words hold wisdom that lights the way you will live. I want the joy of understanding and practicing them to stay with you.

When a dishonest way looks briefly convenient, choose what is true. Turning your feet from a wrong path does not mean surrendering every pleasure. The gladness of living honestly can reach deeply into your heart.

Let your words today honestly reflect what you know and what you do not know. When you make a promise, speak words you can keep. I delight in seeing you taste my teaching, love it, and let it shape your life.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 119:101–104

WEB

101I have kept my feet from every evil way, that I might observe your word.

102I have not turned away from your ordinances, for you have taught me.

103How sweet are your promises to my taste, more than honey to my mouth!

104Through your precepts, I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.

A short reflection

The petitioner turns from evil paths to keep God's word, finds it sweeter than honey, and gains understanding that leads him to reject false ways.
