A Heart That Seeks God
My dear son,
When your heart seeks me like a deer seeking clear water, come near just as you are. I am your living God. Even the desire to know me more is something precious you can tell me.
Closeness to me does not require a constant feeling of fullness. We can meet on the days you come thirsty, too. I want to hear one honest word from you more than language you have carefully dressed up.
Will you stay with me a little this morning? Ask what you wonder about, or simply speak my name quietly. Like a living creature drawing near the water, may your heart find new strength beside me.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 42:1–2
WEB1As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God.
2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
A short reflection
The psalmist longs for the living God as a deer pants for water and asks when he may come and appear before God.
