Sure Footing on the Heights

My dear son,

A deer moves along high places by setting its feet securely. As you walk today's path, I want you to know where you can stand with confidence. My word gives you firm ground beneath your feet.

You can ask me for courage and keep walking even without seeing the whole road ahead. I am a shield and a rock of refuge for those who seek me. Depend on me in familiar places and unfamiliar ones.

Let us value the step before you today. Learn patiently what you need to learn, and ask for the help you need. Trust the hand that steadies you, and share with me the joy of walking forward.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 18:30–33

WEB

30As for God, his way is perfect. The LORD’s word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.

31For who is God, except the LORD? Who is a rock, besides our God,

32the God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect?

33He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and sets me on my high places.

A short reflection

The psalmist praises the perfection of God and his word, calling God a shield to those who take refuge in him and the one who makes his feet secure like a deer's.
