Calling Your Rock with Love

My dear son,

It would delight me to hear you say you love me this morning. Before asking for anything, you can simply share the love between us. I am the rock on whom you can depend with a peaceful heart.

Lean your life against me as you would lean against a steady rock. You can pray to me as your protecting shield and place of refuge. You are welcome even when you cannot manage everything yourself.

Take my hand on happy mornings, too. I want to hear your plans and walk beside you. May depending on me become a joy, and may words of love for me rise often in your day.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 18:1–3

WEB

1I love you, LORD, my strength.

2The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

3I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies.

A short reflection

The rescued psalmist declares his love for the Lord, praises him as rock, fortress, and shield, and calls on him for deliverance from enemies.
