Choosing Your Footsteps
My dear son,
You do not have to follow a road simply because everyone else takes it. If getting ahead means taking what belongs to someone else, pause and listen to me. I want your steps to be honest.
When an opportunity for gain appears, keep treasuring people. Even if the way is slower, following in my footsteps gives you room to learn love. That is a road I want to walk with you.
You do not need to rush into today's decisions alone. Ask me what is right, and take one step at a time. May the places you pass through today be free of wounds left by your careless pursuit of success.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 17:4–5
WEB4As for the deeds of men, by the word of your lips, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
5My steps have held fast to your paths. My feet have not slipped.
A short reflection
The psalmist tells God that he has avoided the paths of violent people and kept his steps on God's paths by attending to his word.
