The One Who Makes Things Grow
My dear son,
Begin the work entrusted to you today with me. One person plants a seed and another waters it. In the same way, you do not have to carry every task from its beginning all the way to its end.
Your work and someone else's work care for the same field. Rather than measuring whose contribution matters more, thank each other. Trust me with the growth; that part belongs to me.
Even when there is no harvest yet to count, I value the planting and tending. You are a fellow worker I love. Enjoy the quiet satisfaction of faithfully doing the part that has been placed in your hands today.
With all my love,
Your Father
1 Corinthians 3:6–9
WEB6I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase.
7So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
8Now he who plants and he who waters are the same, but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building.
A short reflection
Paul warns against factions, explaining that he and Apollos are servants who plant and water, while God gives the growth.
