Love without Keeping Count
My dear son,
Life with others sometimes calls for forgiveness. When it does, look first at the mercy your Father has given rather than counting how many chances remain. Love reaches beyond what arithmetic can measure.
If your heart does not soften easily, tell me honestly. Ask for strength to address things rightly instead of feeding the desire to retaliate alone. Hold wrongdoing accountable while leaving room to see the person beyond your resentment.
Move sincerely toward the forgiveness before you, as you are able today. Your Father wants to help you grow in mercy. Walk the path of treating others with the love you have already received.
With all my love,
Your Father
Matthew 18:21–22
WEB21Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?”
22Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.
A short reflection
When Peter asks how often to forgive, Jesus calls him beyond a calculated limit to continuing forgiveness.
