Seeking the One

My dear son,

Like a shepherd who searches for one wandering sheep even when he has a hundred, I treasure each person. Being one among many does not cause your name to disappear from your Father's attention.

The joy of one person's return cannot be replaced by a number. Look at the people you meet today beyond their results and roles. Listen to what they are thinking and what they need.

Offer a kind greeting to someone who comes to mind. A person you have not seen for a long time is not someone easily forgotten. Care for one another with the heart of the Father who does not want to lose even one of these little ones.

With all my love,
Your Father

Matthew 18:12–14

WEB

12“What do you think? If a man has one hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine, go to the mountains, and seek that which has gone astray?

13If he finds it, most certainly I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.

14Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

A short reflection

Through the lost sheep parable, Jesus teaches that the Father does not want even one of the little ones to perish.
