Open Your Heart to Me
My dear son,
Will you close the door for a little while today and spend time with your Father? Set aside your concern about how you appear to others, and turn toward me. Here, you can speak freely from the heart.
Your sentences do not need polishing to make you sound skilled at prayer. Tell me what you appreciate and what you hope for in your everyday voice. I want to know the heart behind your public appearance.
Even a brief time of your full attention delights me. After you speak, leave room to listen for my will. Entrust the day to the Father who sees you in secret, then begin your work within his love.
With all my love,
Your Father
Matthew 6:6
WEB6But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
A short reflection
Jesus teaches his followers to pray privately to the Father rather than praying to be seen by other people.
