Where Your Heart Will Stay

My dear son,

Tell your Father what you treasure most today. Your heart tends to follow what holds your attention and receives your time. Let us consider together where you are storing your treasure.

Do not entrust the whole value of your life to things that can break or be lost. Invest time and care in using what you have to help others, preserve honesty, and love people.

Enjoy the work of storing treasure in heaven today. Alongside noticing what you own, consider what purposes it serves. I want your heart to turn toward your Father and learn to love what remains precious for the long term.

With all my love,
Your Father

Matthew 6:19–21

WEB

19“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;

20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal;

21for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

A short reflection

Jesus calls people to store treasure in heaven rather than on earth, teaching that the heart follows what a person treasures.
