A Prayer beyond Resentment
My dear son,
Consider the breadth of your Father's love today. I give sun and rain to both the good and the evil. I hope you will grow in loving beyond the people you already find easy to love.
If someone causes you difficulty, do not give resentment your whole heart. Pray that wrongdoing will stop and that the person will truly change. If you feel a desire to retaliate, tell me honestly about that, too.
Ask your Father for wisdom and strength where love is difficult. Address what is wrong without filling your day with words that curse a person. Walk as my child along the path of choosing mercy.
With all my love,
Your Father
Matthew 5:44–45
WEB44But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
A short reflection
