Learning to Use Honest Scales
My dear son,
When you gain something, I want the process to be honest, too. Another person's rightful share may be tied to a single number or a small promise. I do not prize wealth gathered through scales that have been made to deceive.
I do not want your worshiping heart and your working hands to walk different roads. Use your abilities to build trustworthy relationships instead of misleading someone. Your honest choices are precious in my sight.
If there is a record or promise to review today, examine it calmly. Ask for courage to correct what is wrong. Your Father wants you to enjoy the peace of having loved and lived honorably, alongside any satisfaction in what you have gained.
With all my love,
Your Father
Micah 6:10–12
WEB10Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a short ephah that is accursed?
11Shall I tolerate dishonest scales, and a bag of deceitful weights?
12Her rich men are full of violence, her inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their speech.
A short reflection
Through Micah, God specifically condemns the city's dishonest measures and scales, wealth gained by deceit, violence, and lying.
